Dewey's Readathon October 2026 Wrap-Up

How am I supposed to get any reading done when this cat is so cute?

I made it to the end!!! I somehow managed to stay up the full 24 hours! I'm posting this several hours later because I'm really tired today and don't feel like doing anything. I didn't read as much as I wanted to because I have a six month old kitten named Sally and my life revolves around playing with her, cuddling with her and taking pictures of her. But I did manage to finish two books and two graphic novels (Disney's Doug Chronicles: The Funnie Haunted House by Tim Grundmann, Witch-Cat by Joan Carris, Garlic and the Vampire by Bree Paulsen and Tender by Beth Hetland), plus I started off by finishing the last 70 pages of my current read, It Happened One Autumn by Lisa Kleypas, and I read half of The Grave by Christopher Pike.
Total books read: 4 and 3/4
Total pages read: 713
Dewey's October 2026 Closing Survey
1. How did your Readathon go overall? What were the highlights for you? Disappointments? Things you might do differently next time?
Making it to the very end was the highlight for me! I really didn't think I would be able to stay up for a full 24 hours, but I did it! But I was disappointed by how little I actually ended up reading. I want to not get distracted by my cat next year and focus on actually reading (oh who am I kidding, that will never happen haha).
2. Are you continuing to read for the rest of the weekend?
Yes, I want to finish reading The Grave by Christopher Pike. I read a bit more today and I only have 50 pages left and I'll probably finish it before I go to bed tonight. I'm really enjoying it. It's so weird and unique, just like all of his books are.
3. How many books have you read in this Readathon? How many have you finished? Which was your favorite?
4 and 3/4. Tender by Beth Hetland was my favourite. I loved the artwork and the story. Plus, the ending was totally twisted. The Grave by Christopher Pike might end up being my favourite once I'm finished.
4. Do you plan to do other reading events or readathons between now and our next Readathon?
I probably will since I love participating in reading events. I'm not sure which ones though, and probably not another 24 hour one.
5. Have you added any tempting books to your TBR during this Readathon?
Yes, there were tons that I thought looked interesting. I kept saving posts on Facebook to remember the titles.

Dewey's Readathon

It's time for Dewey's Readathon again! Once again, I will attempt to spend a full 24 hours reading. Those are the six books on my TBR that I definitely want to get to, plus I have a bunch on my Kindle too.

Dewey's October 2026 Opening Survey

1. How many Dewey's Readathons have you participated in?
This will be my 27th time participating

2a. If this is not your first Dewey's Readathon, what are your favorite things from past Dewey's readathons? Are you trying anything new or different this time?
My favorite thing has always just been the books. When I was looking at my posts on here to check how many readathons I've participated in, I saw all the amazing books I've read during past readathons, like Baxter by Jessica Hamilton (Hellhound by Ken Greenhall) and Blood Secrets by Craig Jones. I can remember reading them late at night during the readathons and those are great memories for me. This time I'm going to focus just on reading and less on social media, since the books are my favorite part.

2b. What are your goals, and what are you looking forward to during this Readathon?
I want to read the six books on my physical TBR because I feel like they have been on my TBR for years. I'm really looking forward to finally reading The Grave by Christopher Pike. That's one of his only books I have yet to read. He's one of my favorite writers and I've been holding back on reading the few books by him that I haven't read yet because I'm going to be sad when I have no more of his books to read.

3. What are you looking forward to eating and drinking during this Readathon?
I'm going to be ordering takeout for dinner and I'm really looking forward to that.

4. Are you sticking to our official Readathon times or adjusting for your schedule/ preferences/etc.?
I might not make it the full 24 hours this time since I'm not as young as I was when I first started participating in the readathon. If I can't, I'll make up the hours on Sunday.

5. Where are you reading from today?
Oakville, Ontario
