Dewey's Read-a-Thon

It's that time again! Today I'm participating in Dewey's Read-a-Thon and am going to attempt to read for a full 24 hours. I managed to stay up the whole 24 hours last time, so hopefully I can do it again.

Here's what I plan on reading today:

  1. Nightmares! by Jason Segel and Kirsten Miller
  2. Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury
  3. The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson
  4. Psycho by Robert Bloch
  5. I Am Legend by Richard Matheson
  6. The Haunted by Robert Curran
  7. The Amityville Horror by Jay Anson
  8. Full Dark, No Stars by Stephen King (or at least A Good Marriage and Big Driver so I can watch the movies soon)
  9. Dark Harvest by Norman Partridge
  10. The Haunted Forest Tour by James A. Moore and Jeff Strand
Obviously, I won't read all of these, but I had a hard time choosing which books to read today, so I decided I would just add lots of books to my stack and have lots of choices. I chose mostly horror classics that I haven't read yet, because I thought it would be the perfect time to read them with Halloween coming soon and just because I love horror.

Here's the snacks I plan on eating:

  • Bits & Bites
  • Screme Egg brownies
  • assorted Halloween candy
  • assorted K-cups
  • Starbucks Doubleshot Vanilla Energy Drink
I didn't get many snacks, but my boyfriend will be home today, so I planned on him providing most of the food (he's a really good cook).

Opening Meme:

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?
Oakville, Ontario
2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
Nightmares! by Jason Segel and Kirsten Miller because I really wanted to read it and my boyfriend got it for my birthday and gave it to me a day early so I could have it for the read-a-thon.
3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?
The Starbucks energy drinks because I'm addicted to them. Oh, and the Screme Egg brownies because I made them special for today.
4) Tell us a little something about yourself!
Tomorrow is my birthday! I will be 27-years-old. Yep, I would rather read for 24 hours for my birthday than party. I'm not much of a party girl.
5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?
I want to read more than I did last time, so I'm going to try to focus on reading rather than doing challenges.

Hi Melissa! I'm Shaina and I'm here with a bit of cheer in the first RAT hour!

I've started off with The Haunting of Hill House, and it sure is spooky so far. Happy to see it in your stack!

And I, too, would much prefer to read than party. Happy almost birthday to you!

Cheers all around and best of luck this read-a-thon! #rahrahreadathon

It's hard to have to choose between challenges and reading: all sorts of bookishness to have fun with. Hope you're enjoying your read-a-thon-ing so far! (Cheering for you from Team Marquez.)

Happy birthday for tomorrow!
I read The Haunting of Hill House earlier this month. What a creepy old house!
I hope you're having a great day so far, and that the rest of the readathon is just as fun!
Happy reading!
